‘Fios Mágicos’ introduces us to the marvellous world of puppets. Each puppet is manipulated by apparently magical threads. Each thread moves a part of each puppet and together they make it move in an enchanting way, seeming to have a life of its own.
A Harlequin scarf comes out of a box… But this scarf turns out to be a body, with a head, hands and feet. The sound of a harmonica, the pull of a few strings and magic happens.
A puppet comes to life and then other characters follow: a curious cat, a long-legged bird, a Flamenco dancer, a b-boy or even a vampire in love.
It’s an enchanting show, where we are carried away by the magic of the movements, the colour, the music and the actions.
Rui Sousa became a professional puppeteer in 2000 and has continued to do so to this day. As a puppeteer, he recovers the traditional arts of string puppetry and the Dom Roberto Theatre, elevating them to living heritage. In addition to his work in theatres, auditoriums and school groups, he has been present at almost all the puppet theatre festivals in Portugal. His shows have travelled to Spain, Belgium, Brazil and Macau.
