In the Wireless Conversations of the 17th Montemor-o-Novo International Puppetry Meeting, we invite artists and spectators to debate the works presented and to reflect together on the powers and possibilities of objects on stage. This year’s talks will centre on the theme of the Power and Possibilities of the Object.
Christine Zurbach and José Alberto Ferreira will be coordinating these talks, which will have as guests the programmed artists André Murraças, Barbara Matijevic, Giuseppe Chico and Husam Abed and the companies Karyatides and Frau Trapp.
Christine Zurbach
Retired tenured professor from the Évora University School of Fine Arts, where she taught performing arts, drama, theatre history, puppetry and theatre translation. She completed her PhD at the University of Évora in 1997 with the thesis Tradução e Prática do Teatro em Portugal de 1975 a 1988 (Colibri, 2002) She conducts research in the fields of theatre studies and translation studies, and has published papers in national and international journals on playwriting, theatre translation and puppetry.
José Alberto Ferreira
José is a lecturer at the University of Évora’s Performing Arts Department. He is a member of several research groups focusing on the fields of theatre and text editing. He is a collaborating member of the Évora University’s Centre for Art History and Artistic Research (CHAIA). He has collaborated on several national and international journals and magazines. Colabora com várias organizações de formação, festivais e instituições na área da programação artística e cultural. Dirigiu o Festival Escrita na Paisagem (2004-2012). Desde 2018, é o director artístico do Centro de Arte e Cultura da Fundação Eugénio de Almeida.
